The hyperbaric chamber works on the principle that when liquid is put under pressure it absorbs gases. The human body, being comprised mostly of liquid, absorbs oxygen from the surrounding atmosphere when subjected to a high-pressured environment. By exposing the body to an increased pressure of 4psi, the blood plasma and tissue fluids become super saturated with oxygen. The body begins to function more efficiently when its oxygen level is increased to its higher normal range.
Improved nutrition also should accompany treatment.
